HAMELIA PATENS JACQ.
Hamelia patens, synonymous to Hamelia erecta, is beautiful gardenshrub which is native of tropical America. It has been introduced into Inda very recently. The dense, rich, greenish bronze leaves are ellipctic or oblong and narrow at both ends. The green above and pale below and arranged opposite to each other or in whorls of three. The oranged-rec which are tubular are found in helicoidal cymes or cluster. The berry is ellipsoid and blood red in color. The plant is propagated by seeds and cutting.
