Swamp cabbage is an annual, smooth, swampy vine, with hollow stems. The leaves are oblong-ovate, arrow-shaped at the base. The flowers are bell-shaped and light in color. The flowers are open white in the morning and most of them remain closed the rest of the day. The capsule is avoid with a few brown seeds inside. It is used as vegetable by some people.
