CARISSA CARANDAS LINN
Carissa carandas is a very strong woody shrub with a number of spines. It grows well in the hilly regions of India. The fruits, which are green when young and dark purple when mature, are sold in leaf cones by the local tribal folk on railway stations between Pune and Mumbai during the hot summer months. The leaves are glabrous, oval, 3 to cm long. The flowers are white in colour.

- The decoction of the leaves also helps reduce fever.
- The ripe fruits are given to check bleeding of internal organs.
