NEEM TREE IS USED AS AN INSECTICIDE, FOR EYE PROBLEMS, INFLAMMATION OF THE LIVER AND SKIN DISEASES

AZADIRACHTA INDICA A. JUSS


The Margosa or Neem is a very popular tree which grows to a height of over 20 metres. The compound leaves of the tree are pinnate with 9 to 12 leaflets which are sub-opposite, obliquely-anceolate and serrate. The white fragrant flowers are found in branched panicles. The green fruits turn bright yellow when ripe and are one seeded.

Medicinal use:
  • To expel worms from the body, burning sensation near the heart, fever, coughs, ulcers, inflammations and leprosy.
  • As an insecticide, for eye problems, inflammation of the liver and skin diseases.
  • As a purgative, to expel worms, to treat urinary problems, tumours, piles and toothache.
How to use:
  • The decoction of the bark will take care of all the ailments listed in part 1 of Medicinal use.
  • The infusion of the leaves will take care of the problems listed in the second point of Medicinal use.
  • The consumption of the ripe or unripe fruits will take care of the ailments listed last under Medicinal use.

The bark, leaves and fruits.
