HYACINTH BEAN AS AN ANTISEPTIC

DOLICHOS LABLAB LINN.
Hyacinth bean is a climbing vine, wild and universally cultivated, with a long, smooth stem. The leaves are long-stalked, non-equilateral. The flowers are purple or white in clusters. The pods are purple-margined, and are eaten as vegetables. The pod is picked before it ripens.

Medicinal use:
  • To reduce or eliminate fever.
  • Strengthens and gives tone to the stomach.
  • As an antiseptic.
  • For the cure of acute abdominal pain, inflamed mucous membranes of the urethra and vagina, and abnormal bleeding during menstruation.
  • In the case of snakebite.
  • Gives relief for inflamed ears.
How to use:
  • The consumption of the cooked seeds will reduce or eliminate fever and strengthen and give tone to the stomach. The seeds are antiseptic.
  • The infusion of the leaves is used to check excessive bleeding during menstruation, acute abdominal pains and inflammation of the urethra and vagina.
  • The juice extracted from the pods is used for inflammation of the ear.Parts used:
  • The whole plan, except the roots.

Caution:
The root must not be used because it is poisonous.
