GLORY LILY GIVES TONE AND VITALITY TO THE BODY

GLORIOSA SUPERBA LINN.

The Glory Lily is truly glorious as it produces eye-catching, multicoloured and uniquely structured flowers which remain on the plant for at least 7 days. These flowers which are large, axillary or solitary have long extrose filaments which are nearly 13 mm long. The petals or perianth of the flowers have wavy margins and the colours from the tips progress to the base, from green onto yellow passing through orange and scarlet to crimson. The plant is a herbaceous annual climber. The rootstock is solid, fleshly-yellow, cylindric tubers which are 15 to 30 cm long and pointed at each end. The stem is about 3 to 6 metres long bearing parallel veined, stalkless leaves which are placed opposite to each other. The tips of the leaves behave like tendrils, clinging on to neighboring plants or other objects.
