FOUR-O’CLOCK PLANT HEALS WOUNDS, BRUISES, AND ALLERGY OF THE SKIN CAUSED BY INDIGESTION

The Four-O’clock plant is a perennial, herbaceous, bushy plant which grows about 1 metre high. The leaves are narrow, pointed, ovate. The flowers are variously coloured, showy and sometimes striped. The black seed is twice the size of a pepper corn, and the tubers when fully grown are more than 20 kilos in weight. It is grown in gardens for its showy flowers.


Medicinal Use of Four O’clock Plant:
  • Promotes flow of urine.
  • Inflammatory viral disease of the skin.
  • Treatment of abnormal accumulation of liquid in the cellular tissue.
  • Treatment of boils, inflamed and enlarged lymph nodes and for the accumulation of pus in a cavity.
  • Heals wounds, bruises and allergy of the skin caused by indigestion.
  • Earaches.
  • To removes freckles on the skin.

How to use:
  • The root tuber is used in any inflammatory viral disease of the skin, treatment of abnormal collection of liquid in cellular tissue, boils and inflamed lymph nodes. Use 20 grams of root tuber of 1 litre of water, by decoction and 4 to 5 cups are to be taken care per day.
  • A hot poultice of the leaves is used to mature and resolve boils, inflamed lymph nodes and accumulation of pus in a cavity.
  • The juice of the fresh leaves is a healing agent for wounds, bruises, skin allergy caused due to indigestion; also used for earaches in children.
  • The flowers are applied topically over the skin in case of any inflammatory virus disease and for freckles. The powdered seeds are also used for the same problem.
